UP ACES Gives Back aims to foster the members of the organization in becoming socially-aware individuals. It is our hope that as we transcend the four corners of the academe, we would be endowed with a sense of service and community.
UP ACES involved itself in the roster of volunteers in coordination with JCI Philippines. The Executive Committee, under the guidance of its VP Externals, appointed the Camp Pag-ibig heads. The appointed heads were designated to keep in touch with the bigger organizing committee of Camp Pag-ibig and recruit volunteers for the two-day event. In the event itself, the resident members of UP ACES who volunteered were part of the small teams that had specific tasks for the event. The UP ACES team was assigned in the packaging of food and supplies to be handed out to the beneficiaries. Also, other members took their time to play with the kids out there and provided them also with entertainment.
UP ACES was able to provide an attendance of 70 volunteers for Camp Pag-ibig and a lump sum attendance of 50 (excluding applicants) members for the applicants’ outreach. All in all the UP ACES Gives Back initiative was able to help three distinct beneficiaries for the year 2010.
Apart from the additional volunteers that UP ACES provided are the smiles they brought to the special children that participated in the 2-day event. It is very evident that UP ACES members indeed have big hearts that are willing to give their time and effort to these kids that they don’t even know.
